nola coffee & deli has been open for six months!

Six months. Can you believe that nola coffee & deli has been open for just over six months?! Where's the time gone?

These first few months at nola may have disappeared, but they've been great. We've met many lovely people (and dogs - there are too many to list, but a special shoutout to Virgil, Herbie & Ragnar!).

From time to time, I think it's important to look back and reflect on the things you've done and what you've achieved - this milestone seems like the perfect time!

March & April

We officially opened our doors to the public on 10th March 2022, and those first few weeks are a blur. An enjoyable, happy, intense blur but nonetheless a blur. But then it was Easter… We held a children's colouring competition and got loads of excellent entries, with Magnus' entry coming out on top.

At the end of April, Burton Joyce park officially opened, and we got involved! It was our first time being out in the community, and it was great to see many new and familiar faces enjoying our burgers and hot dogs. Before the event finished, we'd sold out!

May

It was a charitable month at nola, if I may say so myself. We donated all of our carrot cake sales proceeds to a special cause, The Young Minds Trust. Matt Knight ran 210 miles non-stop in honour of his late nephew, and we managed to raise £142 in support. At the same time, our very own Kate participated in a Cancer Research fundraiser by wheeling 100 miles in May! She set a goal of £300 and absolutely smashed it by raising £510 - but she has vowed to never rollerskate again…

But May wasn't all about raising money. We hosted our first wing night and even catered a wedding! Our wings and tater tots went down a treat - thanks again, Sam & Olivia!

June & July

There were street parties, afternoon teas and parades as the nation celebrated the Queen's Jubilee. We hosted a community bake-off, tasted loads of tasty bakes and crowned a winner - we made it on BJ TV too! Now there's something I never thought I'd say…

It was then time to turn our attention to a superhero-themed birthday party, where we did a marvellous job!

August

Everyone needs a break, and this was ours. We took a week off, returned, did the tortilla challenge, and ground our 10,000th shot of coffee! And, I can't forget, we celebrated Joyces' 99th birthday!

September

The start of PSL SZN (Pumpkin Spice Latte Season - I didn't get it either), not only did we start selling that autumnal delight, but we stumbled across a new cookie - coffee and oreo.

Virgil also came along for his own afternoon tea after winning our competition, and we had our first official Italian Supper Club. It was epic.

I now want to take a moment to thank the nola team and every single person who has passed through our door. I couldn't do this without you.

We've got more up our sleeves. Stay tuned!
